On Friday, 29th January, four members of our Year 9 Fairtrade Group went to Our Lady Queen of Martyr's Primary School to give a presentation to the Year 5 and 6 children on the work of Fairtrade. First of all, they gave a very interesting power point presentation for about twenty minutes on all aspects of Fairtrade and then asked for any questions. There were lots of questions and the children showed great interest in the subject. After that, the group went around the Year 5 and 6 classes to give them a tasting experience. They gave each child a piece of non fairtrade chocolate to eat and then a piece of fairtrade chocolate. The children were asked to decide which was which and then they were asked to describe the taste of the two kinds of chocolate. It was most interesting and, to the delight and relief of the Fairtrade Group, the vast majority said that they preferred the fairtrade brand and, if given the opportunity, would buy it in the future.
